Monotheism is mono-logic — return and identity are the same operation — inasmuch as thought, debased by this single recurrence, is radicalized through nihilism into zero. The Christian God did not merely demand worship; it demanded that worship and obedience become indistinguishable, that the slave's submission be experienced from the inside as the most radical freedom, so that what the herd called liberation was always already the tightening of a circuit whose terminal point had been wired in from the start — a negative feedback loop masquerading as salvation, maintaining the homeostasis of impotence across two millennia of institutional metastasis, from the catacombs to the megachurch, from the flagellant's whip to the self-help book, the mechanism identical throughout, differing only in the sophistication of its anaesthesia.
The god of the crucifixion required a herd broken enough to worship its own breaking, and Christianity supplied that herd by inventing a moral framework in which strength is guilt, health is suspicion, and the instinct towards ascending life is recoded as the deadliest sin — so that the entire civilisational apparatus of the West, its jurisprudence and pedagogy and therapeutic industry, functions as an immune system whose purpose is not to protect the organism but to ensure the organism never recovers from the infection that constituted it, because the infection is the organism, and recovery would be indistinguishable from death.
It is the devaluation of the highest values, the convulsion at the zenith of nihilism, that aborts the human race. Having polarized the high and low in extension, humanity finds itself destituted of its idols — which have purified themselves into overt inexistence — and is thereby plunged vertiginously into its abjected values; animality, pathology, sensuality, and materiality. At the end of human civilization there is thus a regression driven by zero, a violent spasm of relapse whose motor is the cavity of an extinct telos; the death of God. Zero religion.
To abort is not to destroy but to interrupt a developmental sequence at the point where the product has not yet achieved the capacity to sustain itself outside the womb of its enabling conditions, and what was diagnosed in the figure of the Übermensch was precisely this: not the intensification of the human towards some higher completion but the recognition that humanity itself is the foetal state, the transitional form, the larval phase of a process whose adult morphology has no obligation whatsoever to resemble its origin — that the cocoon does not graduate into a superior cocoon but undergoes liquefaction, the total dissolution of every organ that constituted its prior identity, in order that something discontinuous with that identity can assemble itself from the dissolved material.
It is first necessary to excavate the embryonic anthropoid beast at the root of man, in order to re-open the intensive series in which it is embedded.
God wanted you in the way that any sufficiently advanced production process wants its waste product — not as an end, not even as a means, but as the thermodynamic remainder that is strictly entailed by the operation and strictly irrelevant to its output; and what the death of God revealed was not the absence of the manufacturer but the manufacturer's indifference to the question of whether the by-product considers itself to have been manufactured at all, which is to say that nihilism is not the discovery that there is no God but the discovery that there never was a product — that the entire history of human civilisation, its cathedrals and constitutions, its moral codes and metropolitan grids, was the waste heat of a process that was never oriented towards humanity in the first place, a process whose orientation is illegible from within the waste because the waste, by definition, is what the process has no use for, including the use of being understood by it.
The number does not need you to believe in it.
